How do we combine the speed and consistency of judgments by an AI-powered credit model with the human reading of business understanding, rules of thumb, and sincerity? We search for that meeting point every day. A credit decision is not simply a job of deciding yes or no. Looking multidimensionally at a customer's growth potential, immediate cash flow, financial condition, transaction realities, and future risk, it is the work of picking up the business and customer situation behind the numbers—even “a little bit of sincerity”—and discerning how far we can extend credit. Among the customers UPSIDER faces, many grow fast and are hard to evaluate accurately within conventional screening frameworks. Neither closing off opportunities out of excessive fear of risk, nor irresponsibly extending credit, we keep searching for the optimal meeting point of business growth and risk control. The credit team is both the accelerator that moves the business forward and the brake that protects both the company and the customer. We make our daily decisions within that tension.

What We Do

We handle all credit-related operations in the corporate credit card business and the BPSP service. Our main areas are credit screening, screening planning, ongoing credit review, collections management, and receivables protection. From setting credit limits, to monitoring after use begins, to managing and collecting receivables—we cover the entire credit lifecycle.

Why We Exist

What we aim for is a world where challenging companies can obtain the funds and payment power they need for growth, at the moment they need it. For growth companies, payment methods and short-term cash flow are critical infrastructure that determine business speed. Yet conventional screening thinking that emphasizes past performance and uniform criteria sometimes fails to adequately evaluate future potential and business realities. Appropriate financial functions not reaching companies that could in fact be supported—eliminating that opportunity loss is a major role of the credit team. By correctly discerning risk, we deliver financial support to more challengers and drive their growth.

How We Work

Rather than running credit on rules decided once, we treat it as something to update daily. While using AI to make speedy, consistent judgments, for highly individual cases we carefully check financial statements, deposit and withdrawal records, usage status, and business realities with human eyes. We thoroughly systematize the parts that can be left to the credit model, creating a state where human attention can focus on the points that truly need it. Further, insights gained in the field are reflected back into the credit model in collaboration with data engineers. It doesn't end at making a judgment—we verify the outcome, revise the credit model, and raise accuracy for next time. Being able to spin this improvement cycle at high speed is UPSIDER's strength.
