PR at UPSIDER is about far more than "communicating." It's the work of putting into words why we exist, who we serve, and what we are trying to change—and continuing to deliver that vision to society. Following our integration into the Mizuho Financial Group, the accuracy and reliability demanded of us as a financial infrastructure have become more important than ever. At the same time, UPSIDER's stance of "wanting to be a partner who walks alongside challengers" cannot be conveyed through safe, watered-down messaging. We firmly establish a defensive foundation, and on top of it, deliver our vision boldly and without compromise. Rather than treating offense and defense as a trade-off, we aim to multiply them together to maximize the impact of our PR.
Meet the PR team
What We Do
We own the entire PR and communications strategy in lockstep with management strategy—from planning through execution. In concrete terms, this includes press releases for new features and funding rounds, media relations, crisis communications (risk management), tech branding, recruitment branding, storytelling through owned media, and support for running our user community. In short, we design communication with every kind of stakeholder.
Why We Exist
Our purpose is to make UPSIDER's genuine ambition—"to build a world-class financial platform that supports challengers"—feel like "a challenge that matters to me" for as many people in society as possible. We don't simply raise awareness. Building on the "unwavering trust" of a financial infrastructure, we generate UPSIDER's "passion" out in the world—growing not just recognition but the total volume of empathy, goodwill, and support—and in doing so, accelerate the growth of the business. That is our reason for being.
How We Work
Rather than simply broadcasting whatever information we're handed, we take a proactive approach: we partner closely with management, business units, and legal from the earliest stages and go after primary-source information ourselves. We capture the context and trends of society with overwhelming speed, while constructing messaging that, as finance professionals, never compromises on accuracy. In many cases we are designing the systems and frameworks for articulating our vision and delivering it to society entirely from scratch—an environment where your own judgment and ideas are reflected directly in the output.
Work Style
Making full use of fully remote, fully flextime working, we have members who participate from regional areas and members who flexibly adjust their working hours while raising children. It's an environment where you can work in a way that fits your own lifestyle.
